Watch out for dark horse Siobhan Magnus! March 5, 2010 No Comments

I really didn’t really notice her until her performance this week. Siobhan Magnus sang “Think” by Aretha Franklin and blew everyone away with her high note towards the end.  Even Kara sat in awe, repeating a couple times how she  didn’t know how she was able to hit that  note.

Siobhan Magnus is a cute, quirky, and amazingly talented 19 year old from Cape Cod, MA. Simon predicted she’d be a dark horse in this season’s competition… and I think he’s right.  Watch out idols, this girl might be the one to beat!

The whole song was decent, and then that at high note she hit towards the end sort of blew the rest of the contestants out of the water.  I looked her up on youtube, and found out she can go even higher than that!

I’m looking forward to seeing more from this talented girl!

Casey James and Didi Benami stand out from the crowd February 25, 2010 No Comments

Casey James was just adorable and awesome tonight. He has an amazing voice, and was able to keep composure while the judges were messing around during his performance. Check him out:

From last night, even though the judges found Didi Benami’s performance to be dull and forgettable — I couldn’t disagree more! Didi has the most unique and amazing voice out of the entire group this year, and she sings with such conviction. I’ll be buying her song on itunes for sure!! Didi does an awesome version of “The way I am” by Ingrid Michaelson.

Meeting the ‘dead’ Dr. Christian Shephard from LOST [semi-SPOILER-alert] February 19, 2010 3 Comments

Yesterday, I was cast play a medical intern on Trauma, and was pleasantly surprised to see John Terry on set! At first, it was like I saw a ghost! I’m a HUGE Lost fan, so I kind of wanted to rush up to him and ask him to tell me EVERYTHING… ahaha, as if he would…. but, I played it cool and just stared from afar. lol.

Later in the day, I was lucky enough to get picked to be in a scene with him, so we got to chat a little bit. He was, btw, extremely friendly, funny… and super talented. =)

For those of you who don’t know, John Terry plays Dr. Christian Shephard (a.k.a. Jack’s dead dad) on Lost. There has been so much speculation over how things will pan out on the FINAL season of LOST — and he is in the center of a LOT of theories.

His character, Christian Shephard, is an extremely interesting character on the show because although he was dead from episode ONE, it was later revealed in flashbacks that so many characters have had connections with him, on and off the island. As a recap, here’s what we know:

-Dr. Christian Shephard was originally know as Jack’s father.
-Later we found out he was also Claire’s father, and he was in Australia to visit her for the last time.
-We also found out that Ana Lucia traveled to Australia with Jack’s father
-Christian Shephard hit Saywer with the door of the car when he opened it in front of the bar where they later share drinks.
-On the island, Christian Shephard’s coffin was found unlocked and empty, which raised questions about his death and whether or not he is still alive.
-He then, mysteriously appeared alive on the island to various characters (Jack, Hurley, Claire, Locke, Miles, Micahel, Sun, Vincent, and Frank) at different times
- He has referred to himself on the Island as being capable to speak on Jacob’s behalf.

The final season kicked off focusing on Jacob and his brother (a parallel to the classic Bible story of Jacob and Esau). It has become clear that Esau brought John Locke’s dead body to the island so he could use his body and impersonate John Locke to convince Ben to kill Jacob.

This makes me assume Jacob had been using Christian Shephard’s body, which explains Christian’s appearances on the island. But why was Christian Shephard’s body missing from his coffin? It seems that Esau was able to assume John Locke’s image while leaving the body in the coffin.

So is Christian Shephard really dead?

Well, when I met John Terry, I told him I felt like I was looking at a ghost, and he responded by saying, “oh, but you know Christian Shephard is not really dead…” I said, “REALLY!??!” in shock.. and then he said “just kidding, I have no idea.” … so now I’m left in confusion.

Will John Terry be in this final season of Lost?

He says he hasn’t heard anything from casting yet, and they are finishing up filming within the next month or so. This seems quite weird to me — I would assume he would need to be in this season to help answer questions about his character.

So here’s my two requests to the Lost writers —
1) Please don’t leave questions unanswered!
2) Bring John Terry back, he’s awesome (that one’s for you John!), and we want to know more about how his character fits in with everything!

hmmm… or maybe they should extend the show even more, and have a FINAL FINAL season. haha =)

Twitter is buzzing about Kara Dioguardi’s Maxim shoot February 14, 2010 1 Comment

Twitter is buzzing about Idol Judge Kara Dioguardi’s Maxim shoot.

Although this isn’t the FIRST time Kara Dioguardi has showed off her awesome bod, I think it still comes as a surprise to people.

For those of you who missed it last time, here’s a picture of her busting out of her dress at the Idol Finale last season as a joke:

Check her out yourself. Behind the scene footage from her Maxim shoot:

American Idol Fail — Sweet Escape from Hell Week February 11, 2010 No Comments

I’m usually not a huge fan of watching the group challenge during Hollywood week because it’s usually just a whole lot of drama: the big bossy egos come out, people break down, and a lot of great singers are set up for failure.

Why the heck did they make “Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani one of the song choices? Goodness! After watching last night’s episode, I have a new found respect for Gwen Stefani.

Check out how badly these idol hopefuls botched their songs, especially when it comes to “Sweet Escape”:

Tweetswirl’s Tues Night Idol Favs! February 10, 2010 1 Comment

I picked my three favorite guys and girls from tonight’s episode of American Idol. So if you don’t have the time to watch the show over and over on DVR until 2am like some ppl… you can just catch my recaps of the good stuff!

MY TOP THREE FAVORITE LADIES

DiDi Benami sang “Terrified” by Kara Dioguardi

This girl, DiDi is unbelievably talented. Her voice gives me chills. To top it off, she is incredibly humble and seems to have no idea how amazing she is. Makes me want to vote for her. So far, she’s my front runner!

Janell Wheeler sang “american boy” and it was such a beautiful version of it, I had to listen to it a couple more times. Word on the street is, this girl has dated NFL’s Tim Tebow. ooh lala!

Haeley Vaughn is a “country pop” singer, which happens to be all the rage nowadays thanks to Taylor Swift. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this girl at first. She has a unique sound to her voice that could be borderline annoying. In fact, the footage cut to Ellen saying “I think this girl can get annoying,” and although they didn’t say who she was referring to — I immediately assumed she was talking about Haeley. haha. anywho.. although her voice can get close to the annoying side, it might be annoying in the same way Rihanna can sound annoying sometimes. haha know what i mean? She’s interesting and memorable, and I am curious to hear more:

ON TO MY THREE FAVORITE MEN (of tonight)

Andrew Garcia is cute in a understated/nerdy way, and totally reminds me of a guy I know. This guy has heart, and you can tell he’s truly passionate about his music. Love him!

Michael Lynche missed the birth of his baby to be in Idol… When I heard that, i though… ok… he better be good. Yup… he was. He sang “Waiting on the World to Change” and it was such a feel good performance with the audience singing along in the background.

Casey James. yum! Something about him draws me in… is it his eyes? Is it because he took his shirt off in his audition? Something about a hot guy and a guitar…. Gosh, he reminds me of James a.k.a. Sawyer from LOST. Can’t…. seem… to… get him out of my head. hahaha jk jk. Anyhow, his voice is actually really nice. Def want to see more of him. =)

Tell me what you thought of the show!!
